The metal framework provides precise rest seat engagement, rigid major connectors for stability, and surveyed clasps designed for reliable retention. Thermoplastic flexible partials offer greater comfort and esthetics but are generally less dimensionally stable than cast metal over time.
For some removable cases particularly cast metal partial frameworks digital impressions can be used for framework design. Complete dentures typically still benefit from quality physical impressions to capture tissue surface detail accurately.
