Custom Sports Mouthguards
Lab-Made Protection That Athletes Actually Wear

CIT Dental Lab fabricates custom sports mouthguards for dental practices across the Eastern United States who want to offer their athletic patients genuine protection not the bulky, ill-fitting boil-and-bite guards that end up in a gym bag after the first practice. A CIT custom sports mouthguard is fabricated directly from the patient’s dental impressions or digital scan, producing a precise, comfortable fit that stays in place during contact, allows normal breathing and communication, and actually gets worn every game. Available in single-layer and multi-layer protective designs, with a wide range of color and team color options. Free 2-way shipping.

Custom vs. Over-the-Counter
Why It Matters

Studies consistently show that custom-fitted mouthguards provide superior protection compared to store-bought alternatives better fit means better retention during impact, more consistent coverage of teeth and soft tissue, and significantly higher patient compliance. A boil-and-bite guard that’s too thick to breathe through gets removed during play, providing zero protection when it matters most. A CIT custom guard fits precisely, allows normal breathing and speech, and stays in place through contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

A single-layer guard is fabricated from one thickness of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) thermoplastic appropriate for low-to-moderate contact sports. A multi-layer (dual-laminate or triple-layer) guard uses two or more material layers, providing greater impact absorption and protection for high-contact sports like football, hockey, and boxing. For high-contact athletes or those with previous dental injuries, multi-layer designs are recommended.
Yes. CIT offers sports mouthguards in a wide range of colors and color combinations. Specify your color preferences when submitting the case — we can do solid colors, layered colors, and team color combinations.
Custom mouthguards can be fabricated for children as soon as they have enough permanent teeth to take an accurate impression typically around ages 7–8. Because children's mouths are still developing, guards may need periodic replacement as the arch grows. CIT can fabricate pediatric and adult sizes.
